How to get your business recommended by ChatGPT

When someone asks ChatGPT or another AI tool for "the best electrician near me" or "a personal trainer in my town", the answer is assembled from information the tool can find and trust. Nobody can guarantee a recommendation, and the tools are controlled by third parties. But you can make it far easier for them to understand and trust your business.

1. Say clearly who you are, what you do and where

AI tools read your website like a person skimming it. Put the basics in plain words near the top of your home page: your business name, the services you offer, the towns you serve and how to contact you. Avoid clever slogans that hide what you actually do.

2. Give each service and area its own page

A single "Services" page that lists everything gives a tool very little to work with. A dedicated page for each main service, and for each area you cover, gives it specific, quotable answers.

3. Use structured data

Structured data (schema markup) is a standard way of labelling your business details, services and FAQs so machines can read them reliably. Every JP Sitecraft site includes it as standard.

4. Answer real customer questions

Write down the questions customers ask you on the phone and answer them properly on your site. FAQ pages that are specific and honest are exactly the sort of content AI tools quote.

5. Build trust off your own site

Your Google Business Profile, consistent business details across the web and genuine customer reviews all tell the tools that you are a real, active business. See our guide on why reviews matter for AI search.

6. Keep the technical basics healthy

A fast, secure, mobile-friendly site with a sitemap is easier to read and to trust. It is also better for your visitors.

What to expect

Doing these things well improves your chances of being found, but results also depend on factors outside anyone's control, including your domain's age and history, your competition, and the number and quality of your reviews. Be wary of anyone who promises a particular result.
